KSDJ 2021-2022 Staff

We have a lot of new faces part of the KSDJ team ready to bring you NEW ROCK over the airwaves!

Carter Schmidt - Station Manager

About:

I am working with KSDJ for my second year. I was the news director and now serve as the station manager. I am a senior journalism and communications double major with a minor in marketing. I also work for KELOLAND News in Sioux Falls and on campus with SDSU athletics as a broadcast services assistant and with Yeager Media Center with On Call with the Prairie Doc. On campus, I am also a part of Journalism Club and Lambda Pi Eta. I also own my own Mobile DJ Service, where I DJ weddings, proms, etc. In my free time, I enjoy being with friends, biking, hiking, fishing and doing wood projects.

What is your favorite genre of music?

I don’t really have a favorite band, but I enjoy all types of music. Since I DJ for many different types of events, I have to be well rounded when it comes to my music choices. However, the best concert I attended was definitely Thomas Rhett. The concert was amazing and I won the front row tickets for free. My favorite music genre is a mix of today’s country, pop, hip-hop, and classic rock. However, I’ll listen to anything if I can vibe with it.

Hayden Woods- Station Engineer
Hayden Woods (1) 2 (1).jpg

About:

My name is Hayden Woods, and I’m the station engineer for KSDJ. I have a lot of experience in the music industry and have worked on many production crews for a lot of different artists. I have an education in audio engineering and am now working on getting my bachelor’s degree in Aviation Education here at SDSU. I love technology and music, so I feel right at home working for KSDJ. If you like airplanes or tech stuff come talk to me!

What is your favorite genre of music?

My favorite genre of music is EDM because it has so many different moods and is really fun to play as a DJ. I like many other genres, but I think electronic music will always have a special place for me.

Hannah Roseland- Communications Director

About:

Hi- My name is Hannah and I am a junior at SDSU majoring in Journalism. I love to travel, hang out with my friends, and learn new things. I am excited to be the communications director for KSDJ and I am looking forward to everything this year has to offer!

What is your favorite genre of music?

I have the most random taste in music; I listen to basically every genre from every decade!

Dalton Cherry- Sports Broadcasting

About:

Hello guys my name is Dalton Cherry- I'm the Sport reporter/broadcaster for KSDJ this year. I'm from Arkansas, born and raised,  but hate the Arkansas Razorbacks lol, but I like Oklahoma Sooners; makes no sense right? I know, you can thank my uncle for that. He brained washed me at a young age loI. I'm a Junior here at SDSU majoring in Natural Recourse Law Enforcement. My  hobbies include hunting, fishing, hanging out with friends, and I love watching sports!

What is your favorite genre of music?

My favorite type of music is all types of music- I really don't have a favorite band. I think one of my favorite parts about working at KSDJ is attending all the different games this year. I chose to work  KDSJ to have to expand my view on life and have fun!

Sam Schauer

What is your favorite genre of music?

My favorite genre would have to be 80s rock and my favorite band is Electric Light Orchestra.

I wanted to work at KSDJ as a way to improve my skills of communication and wanted to also have the skills to be a radio host.

About:

My name is Sam Schauer, I am a sophomore this year and I am a double major in Communication and Journalism.  I am involved with the Pride, wind symphony, and the jazz bands on campus.  I also host Coffee with Cojo.  My past time hobbies include watching sports, movies, and playing golfing games; I also love frisbee golfing and suck at actual golfing.

Bella Wildeman- Sound Director

About:

Howdy! My name is Bella Wildeman, I’m a junior here at SDSU and I am majoring in Nursing with dual minors in Biology and Nutrition. Working for a radio station might not be completely in line with my major, but I’ve wanted to work for KSDJ since my freshman year to become more involved in music and broadcasting. I’m so excited to hold the position of Sound Director and continue my radio show this year!

What is your favorite genre of music?

Some of my top artists to listen to are the Bee Gee’s, Three Day’s Grace, and Falling in Reverse, and while it’s tough to choose a favorite genre, I would have to say my current music cycle is centered around classic/current rock and oddly enough oldies from the 60’s !

Brian Stemwedel- Station Advisor

About:

Hello, my name is Brian Stemwedel. I am part of the SDSU Class of ’95 - BS in Communication Studies - Radio, Television, and Film emphasis. I am the Assistant Coordinator at the Yeager Media Center housed at the SDSU School of Communication and Journalism.  I am also an adjunct instructor. I am currently teaching Video Production MCOM 331. I am really excited to be an advisor to KSDJ this year.  This year we brought student media over to the School of Communication and Journalism.  I think this gives us an opportunity to make the radio station more relevant and grow.

What is your favorite genre of music?

I like all good music - from blues to metal to alt-country and everything in between.  I’m a Gen Xer so I do have a soft spot for a lot of the alternative bands from the 1990’s though.
